A mechanized borehole project meant to provide potable and adequate water to the Kumasi Cheshire Home and Edwenase Rehabilitation and Vocational Centre was at the weekend inaugurated in Kumasi. The two institutions had been hit by acute water shortage for the past 10 years, necessitating the appeal to the Barclays Bank to come to their aid.The bank, in response to this appeal, sought technical assistance from the Ghana Water Company Limited following feasibility studies into the viability of the project.Mrs Shola Safo-Duodu, Head of Corporate Affairs of Barclays bank, said the project was funded by the bank at the cost of ¢108.6 million and hoped that the facility would go a long way to address the water problem of the two institutions. She gave the assurance that the bank would continue to support the institutions in diverse ways to ensure that the in-mates were well catered for.Mr Owusu Adjei, administrator of the Kumasi Cheshire Home, lauded the bank for living up to expectation and said the centre would take good care of the project.Source: GNA
