Ghana captain Stephen Appiah played for his Italian side Serie A side Bologna in their 16-1 win over Scandiano in a friendly on Thursday.
The midfielder played in the first team as they thrashed the lower division side ahead of the weekend’s league matches.
Bologna were represented by two teams with the Ghana captain playing in the first team that played in the first half.
He was overly active boosting his hopes of finally making his debut for the club before the season ends.
This further underlines the fact he has regained his full fitness after a botched knee surgery and dispute with his former club Fenerbahce ruled him out action.
This is also massive boost for the midfielder and his country ahead of the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa which is just some few weeks away.
The former Juventus, Fenerbahce and Parma star was signed as a free agent by Bologna late last year.
The Ghanaian was previously released by the Turkish side in June 2008, but continued to feature for the Ghana national team, despite the recurrence of a long-term knee injury.
