The police at Atabaadze Junction barrier near Elmina had arrested seven juveniles, who were travelling by an urvan bus to Takoradi, allegedly to engage in prostitution.
The juveniles, two boys and five girls, aged between 14 years and 15 years, are in the custody of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at Cape Coast and efforts were being made to trace their parents or guardians.
The Central Regional Coordinator of the Unit, Mrs. Felicia Ayensu, who confirmed the story to GNA, said that the minors would be sent to a Correctional Centre while investigations continued.
She expressed concern about increase in child prostitution in some parts of the country and asked parents to be alive to their parental responsibilities.
One of the girls denied to GNA that the group was going to Takoradi to engage in prostitution but she could not explain why they travelling.
