Police say the victims’ accounts of attack at the Ga mantse palace have been over-exaggerated.
The palace was said to have been raided by gun wielding men Monday morning who beat up a man living in the palace.
The victim claimed the assailants fired warning shots and subjected him to severe beating.
He claimed one police personnel stationed in front of the gate was overpowered by the men numbering about 25.
But in an interview with Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Monday the Kaneshie District Police Commander Supt Iddrisu Abu Yakubu said: “I heard somebody saying that people were armed with AK 47. They are trying to add more to it.”
“…Definitely when things like this happen people will add more to it to sweeten it.”
He also dismissed assertions that only one police man was at post during the attack.
“It is a falsehood for somebody to say that only one person was here,” he said, adding about four or five were present and were stationed at the gate.
The assailants allegedly jumped the wall into the building, he narrated.
Three of the assailants have been arrested and sent to the regional police headquarters.
They are yet to establish whether it is an armed robbery attack or is linked to the chieftaincy feud.
22 people were Friday arrested by the police for similar invasion at the Ga mantse palace and were sent to the regional police headquarters for further investigations.
Supt Iddrisu Abu Yakubu suspects the earlier assailants might be on bail.
