President Mills has pledged government’s support to the private sector so it could play a bigger role in the economy.
The president who was addressing journalists on his arrival from the ECOWAS summit in Cape Verde says no amount of government intervention can yield the expected growth if the private sector does not play its part.
He chided previous governments for paying lip service in their bid to assist the private sector, adding that his government will provide the enabling environment and "oil the engine" for the private sector to take off.
The President said there is a limit to what government or the public sector can do, adding that government should rather be servicing the private sector.
Briefing the media on the details of the ECOWAS summit the President said the meeting focused on development issues especially on how the sub region was going to solve its energy problems.
He was hopeful the meeting will yield the needed results.
