The First Lady, Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, has supported the bid by her husband, President John Evans Atta Mills, to contest a second four-year term. She said President Mills had begun "a massive project" which was proving successful and must be supported by all to achieve results. Mrs Mills gave the support when she donated quantities of foodstuff, clothing, detergents among others to the School for the Blind, Akropong-Akuapem as part of the 66th birthday of the President on Wednesday. Recently, there had been agitations from some quarters seeking to undermine President Mills bid for a second term. The first lady lauded the good works. of President Mills and his administration in the fields of the economy, agriculture, health, education, energy, housing among other things, saying "these must be the yardstick by which to retain my husband to finish the eight years". She said her husband's present position was not by his power or might but by the will passion and compassion of the Good Lord, adding that He would protect him (President) to continue with his good works. Earlier, Mrs Mills donated similar items to two other institutions, the Dzorwulu Special School in Accra, School for the Deaf, Mampong-Akwapim, and pledged the government's commitment to support all institutions, particularly the specialised ones to enable them to contribute to the country's human resource development. The First Lady paid tribute to the staff of the school for their patience, understanding and love for the children. A Presidential Aide, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, said President Mills had for the past eight years been dedicating his birthday to specialised institutions in the country with the conviction that "we must share the little we have for the glory of the Lord's name". The heads of the institution thanked the President for the gesture and pledged to put the items to their intended use.
