The Jirapa Police in the Upper West Region have released three members of the National Democratic Congress who were arrested for allegedly inciting the youth against the District Chief Executive of the area.
According to the District Police Commander ASP Harrison Kpaso the three were “cautioned” and made to “sign bonds to be of good behaviour.”
This was after leaders of the NDC in the constituency had intervened in the matter and pleaded on behalf of the accused persons, ASP Kpaso revealed.
The three were picked up Wednesday evening after they mounted motor bikes and with a public address system made comments that police insist were to incite the public. They were also accused of insulting the DCE- Bernard Possin.
The NDC youth had early on in the week embarked on a demonstration demanding the immediate dismissal of the DCE, who they accuse of being insensitive to the needs of the people in the district.
Even after being released the group insists their struggle to have the DCE dismissed will still continue.
Mohammed Fatau, a member of the group said they will continue until the DCE is sacked.
