The Multimedia Group is excited its report seeking support for veteran actor William Addo barely 24 hours after his interview on Daybreak Hitz with KMJ has produced results.
The actor, who has Glaucoma and Cataract, revealed that he needed ¢5,000 to undergo eye surgery urgently lest he goes blind.
In less than 24 hours after a follow-up interview with MzGee for JoyNews Prime on the JoyNews channel on MultiTV which transmits via its affiliate stations across the globe, some viewers in the diaspora have responded with support.
“A lot of people have called and a number of pledges particularly from outside Ghana. People from Canada, Britain, USA are all pledging. I was at the bank to take some money [¢1000] someone sent me from the US. I am very exciting indeed,” elated Mr. Addo told Hitz@1.
He added that a host of other benevolent people who reside here in Ghana have also gotten in touch with him with "some group also called pledging to give me the entire ¢5000.”
William Addo, who does not want to count his eggs before they are hatched, says he cannot reckon the amount he has until all the pledges are fulfilled.
The actor was expected to raise ¢5000 upfront for a surgery by Thursday, March 31.
Luckily, the deadline has been extended for the surgery. He is now expected to raise the money when he returns to the hospital on Wednesday, April 6 for the final lap of his surgery.
