Four persons lost their lives in an accident at Anwia-Nkwanta on the Kumasi-Obuasi road last Friday evening. Two people died on the spot in the accident which occurred at about 7:30 pm, and the other two died on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.Fifteen others sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to KATH and the Bekwai Government Hospital. An eyewitness, Emmanuel Anyimah, said the accident involved a 207 bus with registration number AS 2996-10 and a Nissan Urvan bus with registration number AS 3533 Y.The 207 bus was heading towards Kumasi from Obuasi, while the Nissan Urvan bus was from Kumasi to Nzima.Anyimah noted that the driver of the Nissan Urvan bus, after reaching the Anwia-Nkwanta portion of the road, spotted a faulty taxicab which had been parked in the middle of the road and therefore tried to bypass it.While bypassing the taxicab, the driver of the Urvan realized that the 207 bus had emerged at top speed, and thus decided to avoid it, resulting in a head-on collision.Source: Daily Guide
