The trial of the 15 persons charged with playing various roles in the murder of the overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, is expected to resume next week Tuesday.
Hearing was stalled after allegations of bias were leveled against the trial judge, Anthony Oppong, compelling him to ask the Chief Justice to take the case to a different court. State prosecutors accused him of making prejudicial comments against the case in a drinking bar – allegations he vehemently denied and challenged his accusers to provide proof.
Following Mr Oppong’s recusal, the Chief Justice, Justice Georgina Wood asked Justice Emmanuel Ayebi to take over the case.
Justice Ayebi has presided over a few public interest cases and barring any last minute hitches, he would be in the seat on Tuesday when the prosecution opens its case against 15 persons being tried for alleged complicity in the murder of the Ya-Na.
