The Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta, on Monday expressed shock at newspaper reports that he snubbed Nana Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for 2012 general election, saying he did not see him at the durbar grounds on Saturday. Speaking to the press in Cape Coast yesterday, he said on September 3, 2010, Nana Addo paid a courtesy call on him at his Emintsimandze Palace, where he was warmly received and invited to participate in the Festival. At the said meeting, Osabarima Atta said libation was poured for Nana Addo, where they asked the ancestors to guide him in his campaign efforts. Nana Addo and his delegation left the palace with a promise to be at the durbar grounds, which event climaxes the Fetu Afahye, which the Council agreed. He explained that the festival had an international appeal and that it was opened to all, wondering why people will create the impression that he did not acknowledge the presence of Nana Addo. Osabarima Atta said on arrival at the festival grounds by Nananom, he did not see Nana Addo and his entourage seated at the durbar grounds. He went ahead to explain that Nananom could not have mentioned his name when they had not seen him, and added that they were expecting that as custom demands, if he was there, he would have informed the chiefs or sent someone to alert them of his presence. Osabarima Atta said it was when the ceremony had virtually come to an end that the chiefs were told of the presence of Nana Addo and his team, by which time it was too late for anything to be done. He said it was during the playing of the national anthem to close the programme that the message reached him. Osabarima, who was flanked by some chiefs, did not take kindly to The Chronicle correspondent in Cape Coast for the publication of a snub of Akufo-Addo, without cross-checking from him as to what really transpired.
