Samuel Inkoom is delighted to have made his European Champions League bow even though it ended in a 2-1 defeat for FC Basle against CFR Cluj in Romania.The Ghana right back, who is into his second season in European club football, was one of many Ghanaians involved in a busy night of Champions League action. Michael Essien once again provided the headline act, scoring the opening goal as Chelsea run out 4-1 winners away at MSK Zilina. He was the only Ghanaian goal scorer in the competition this week but there were a lot of positives including Kevin-Prince Boateng's 75 minute appearance for AC Milan as they beat Auxerre 2-0. The 23-year old replaced Massimo Ambrosini after only 15 minutes and played a key part as Milan got off their campaign to the perfect start."It was difficult for me, as I came in and couldn't warm up properly. This is football, it happens, and I think I did well," he said. "I just tried to do my best and help the team, as we lost at the weekend and had to show the fans we could get results and play good football." Boateng knows however that regardless of how well he plays, it does not guarantee him a place in the Milan side for their weekend Serie A game. "There's a lot of competition for places in midfield, so all I can do is keep working and hope for the weekend." Milan coach Masimilano Allgeri though saw enough to be impressed. "Boateng is a very good player who did well coming in, he's got good strength and technique and he's young. He has the characteristics that complete those of the others in midfield," he said. The other Ghanaian in Milan, Sulley Muntari, at Inter played barely six minutes on Tuesday as the defending champions took one point in their opening game against Twente Enschede in Holland.
