Enumerators trained for the 2010 Population and Housing Census (PHC) have been advised to refrain from partisan politics during interaction with respondents and endeavour to educate the public on the essence of the exercise geared towards national development.
Mr. Michael Opoku Ayete, Adenta Municipal Statistical Officer, who gave the advice, said they should be circumspect in collating the necessary date required for the success of the exercise and national development.
He gave the advice when addressing Supervisors and Enumerators for the Municipality after a 10-day workshop at Adenta near Accra on Monday.
They were trained on their activities, before, during and after the exercise based on the Supervisors and Enumerators’ Manuals.
About 355 participants were trained out of which seven would be appointed Senior Supervisors, 52 Supervisors and 255 Enumerators.
On the preparation towards the exercise, Mr. Ayete said about 513 applicants were received, 410 were short-listed for interview out of which the trainees were selected.
The Municipality shares boundaries with Ga East, Ledzokuku, Ashaiman and Tema Metropolitan Areas.
Mr. Ayete noted that the training programme had been successful after their assessment and coupled with the availability of the required logistics, the exercise would be well conducted within the Municipality.
The two-week exercise begins on Sunday, September 26, the Census Night.
