The entire Koforidua township was thrown into a state of mourning Tuesday, after the corpses of three sisters were laid in state at the Central Apostolic Church. The mystery deaths occurred within a period of five days after each of them suffered a short illness. The deceased sisters are Josephine Opoku Nsiah, 20, and her twin sisters Juliet Opoku Nsiah and Juliana Opoku Nsiah, both 17 years. Commercial activities in the town came to a standstill as shop owners and customers thronged the church premises, to catch a glimpse of the corpses. Some of mourners, dressed in white and red clothes shed uncontrollable tears, while others were seen in groups discussing what might have caused the deaths, under such mysterious circumstances. According to information gathered by The Chronicle, Juliet fell sick and was admitted at the Koforidua Regional Hospital, but passed away on September 4, this year. This reporter also gathered that Josephine, who was affectionately called Pokuaa, together with Juliana Opoku Nsiah, the other twin sister, also fell sick five days after the death of Juliet. The two were admitted at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Mampong-Akuapem, on September 9, but died the same day. Before their untimely deaths, the twin sisters were students of Agona S .D.A Senior High School, whilst Josephine was a former student of Adonten Senior High School, in Aburi. The parents of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kwame Nsiah, could not hold back their tears as the casket containing the remains of their children were taken away to the cemetery.
