Access Bank is introducing a scheme that will provide women and their families the opportunity to benefit from a financial package to be spent on their health needs.
At least 70 women are expected to benefit from the first phase of the Maternal Health Support Scheme as the bank disburses an initial seed capital of 5 million Ghana cedis.
Born out of Access Bank’s women banking strategy, women who require specialist procedures such as fertility treatment, dental, surgeries to remove fibroid and uterus, orthopedic care, among others will be offered with range of concessionary loans.
Head of Exclusive Banking at Access Bank, Matilda Asante-Asiedu tells Nhyira FM at the launch of the scheme in Kumasi the bank wants to assist women to achieve their motherhood dreams.
“If you can give a woman a loan to buy a car; a loan to invest in their business, the most important thing for most women is child-bearing. Why can you not support that woman for that? And that is why we have launched and invested in this Maternal Health Support Scheme to help women achieve their dreams of motherhood”. Mrs Asante-Asiedu has said.

The “W” initiative caters for the financial needs of young women professionals, women in business and family.
Offering the lowest interest rate on the market couples can sign-onto the new scheme easily.
Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu explains it takes one to open an account with Access Bank to enjoy at least Gh22, 000 for an IVF trial and additional fertility treatment for men as well.
“We have set ourselves a total of about 5 million [Ghana cedis] to invest as a start in this Maternal Health Support Scheme. In sometimes even in fertility treatment, you will find that actually the person who needs the treatment is the man and not the woman so this is available to both men and women”. She said.
