The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrisu, has thrown out the complaint brought against the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Kwabena Adjei over his comments on corruption in the judiciary. Joy FM sources say the AG said there is no evidence of subversion in the comments made by Dr. Kwabena Adjei to warrant his prosecution. She has therefore, directed the police to close the docket. Dr. Kwabena Adjei came under a barrage of criticism for his call on the Chief Justice to cleanse the judiciary of corrupt judges or the NDC will show her how to do it. He was taken on for those comments. First, it was the Minority NPP in Parliament, which asked for his arrest and prosecution. The Minority group described his comments as treasonable. Then, pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance went a step further and reported him to the police. He has since presented a statement to the police on his comments. But the Attorney General has directed the police to discontinue the case because, there’s no evidence of subversive act against the constitution. The reasoning is that, Dr. Adjei’s statement that “there are many ways of killing a cat” is ambiguous, remains an intention which is not backed by any action.
