The 16 suspected landguards who were arrested by the police on Tuesday, wielding bayonets and two pump action guns, have been remanded into prison custody. They include Jerry Kofi Mintah, 48, Frank Obeng, Michael Ofori, Kassim Ibrahim, Fayebibi Gyan, Isaac Acheampong, Adjei Emmanuel and George Ofosu. The rest are Adeko Emmanuel, Clement Amuzu, Appiah Alex, Yaw Sarpong, Eric Kudemo, Kwame Opare and Kwadwo Kusi. All sixteen, with the exception of their leader, Jerry Mintah, were wearing blue-back overall clothes, with the inscription Kofi Anum Family of Tesa or KRM Services Limited on them. When they appeared in court on Friday, the presiding judge decided to remand them for two weeks at the Nsawam Prison to enable the police conduct further investigations into the case. The 16 suspects were arrested by personnel of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters for supposedly disguising themselves as operatives of a private security company. They were also alleged to have gone on a disputed parcel of land at East Legon and attacked Victor Akpatse, a caretaker of the land. Meanwhile, the families of the alleged landguards and one Kowo Richardson, who claims to have ownership title and documents in that regard, have indicated their preparedness to expose the political powers behind developments over the land. Mr Richardson has thus pledged his commitment to furnish DAILY GUIDE with the necessary documents covering the land and court judgments to back his claim of ownership of the disputed land and if possible, expose the individuals including top politicians who are frustrating his investments.
