Commercial drivers in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region have embarked on a demonstration to protest the poor nature of roads in the town that they say makes it difficult for them to do business.
According to the drivers, the roads are so bad that commuting from one part of town to the other is tedious and stressful.
Speaking to Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Adom Dwaso Nsem on Monday, October 11, the leader of the drivers, Affum Fianko said they are incurring huge losses because they are spending too much on replacing spare parts every other day as their cars break down too frequently due to the poor state of the roads.
He said due to persistent rains in the area, the potholes in the roads have virtually become “manholes” and that it is only those who own 4X4 vehicles that use the roads with some comfort.
Efforts to reach the Municipal Chief Executive, Christiana Kobinnah were futile.
Drivers at Twifo Praso also embarked on a similar demonstration last Friday, October 8, also to protest bad roads in their town.
