A Circuit court in Takoradi, on Tuesday remanded James Ntamah, apprentice mechanic, and Francis Quansah, a cobbler, in prison custody for allegedly stealing and dishonestly buying a mobile phone respectively.
The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charges and asked the court to have compassion for them, would re-appear in court on October 19.
Sergeant Benjamin Annor told the court presided over by Mr. Kwasi Boakye that on September 16, this year, the complainant, Isaac Yalley, who resides at Ankyereyin detected that his mobile phone valued at GH150, two trousers and GH20 have been stolen.
The Prosecution said that at about 0730 hours on September 29, this year, Yalley saw Quansah selling the phone at the Ankyereyin market.
Sgt. Annor said that the complainant arrested Quansah and handed him over to the Police.
The prosecution told the court that Quansah in his caution statement indicated that Ntamah sold the phone to him.
Sgt. Annor said Ntamah, who was apprehended at his hideout at Cape Coast, in a cautioned statement, said he found the phone on the ground at Egyam and sold it to the first accused person.Source: GNA
