Information available to Joy News indicates the driver of the Yutong bus at the center of the controversial highway robbery cum mass rape story has been involved in an accident.Samuel Asiedu’s vehicle was reportedly rammed by a Burkina Faso-bound cargo truck at around Kintampo, killing his co-driver instantly.Adom FM morning show host, Mr Adakabre Frimpong Manso, told Joy News he got a distress call from one of the directors of the transport company that owns the bus who pleaded for his (Adakabre’s) assistance to reach the police to report the accident.Mr Adakabre said he called the police and they immediately got in touch with the driver.Mr Asiedu and his Yutong bus have been at the centre of a raging mass rape controversy.A passenger on the bus, Amina Mohammed claimed armed robbers forced male passengers to have sex with their female counterparts a couple of weeks ago but the police have discounted her claims. The story assumed a national debate leading to Amina being picked up and detained by the police on Saturday and remanded in police custody by a circuit court. An application for bail for Amina by her lawyer, Prof. Ken Agyemang Attafuah was rejected by the court. But Prof. Attafuah said the court’s decision was unacceptable and that he will be in court today to seek to overturn that decision.Source: Joy News/Ghana
