An aide to ex-president Rawlings and a deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams, says he cannot rule out ulterior motives in his accident on the Tema Motorway.Kofi Adams, who was speaking to Adakabre Fimpong Manso on Adom FM, Thursday explained that the incident occurred at about 11. 30 pm when he was heading home, after a series of meetings.Mr. Adams said he could not fathom why occupants of the Pick-up that caused the accident sped off after they realized he had gotten into the gutter. He labeled the driver of the pick up as one lacking any ‘human conscience’ because he did not stop to check if he [Kofi Adams] had gotten injured or needed help.Throwing more light on the incident, Mr Adams said as he was driving on the right side of the motorway on his way to Tema, he noticed a green Nissan pick up which was on his left side. The vehicle, without any caution, crossed over to his lane abruptly, causing him to move to the left side to avoid any collision.He said the pick up once again moved in front of his vehicle to the left and in his attempt at avoiding a potential crash, he went off the road into the gutter in the central reservation space of the Motorway.Mr. Adams believes that if it had not been for the kind of vehicle he was driving, he would have suffered severe injuries.He said some truck drivers that were headed towards the Accra end of the motorway and the National Highway Patrol team were of tremendous help in moving his vehicle to a safe place.When asked whether the incident is not an orchestrated attempt at putting the president under pressure, Mr Adams rejected the notion, saying he would not nurture a thought like at the expense of his life.Story by Derick Romeo Adogla/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
