The Ghana Police Service has asked Ghanaians not to panic at reports of rising highway robberies in the country with the assurance that the service is on top of the situation.
This follows a series of armed robbery attacks on buses at locations including Kintampo, Namkpanduri, Western Region, Bawku and the Juapong road.
Just this Monday, a police woman was reported to have been attacked in Kumasi by armed men.
But head of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Kwesi Fori has told Joy News statistics indicate a downward trend in robberies.
Supt. Kwesi Fori said “the police administration wants to make it clear that robberies are not on the increase but due to media hype and due to some of the isolated incidents that has attracted public discussions, have made it to look like robberies are on the increase”
He further recounted many examples where the police foiled attacks on passengers and residents across the country and assured Ghanaians of the Service’s quest to keep the country safe.
Supt. Kwesi Fori gave the assurance that the Service is fighting the menace and putting the needed strategies in place to ensure the safety of Ghanaians.
