The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is worried that its plan to complete work on the migration of all public sector workers onto the single spine salary scheme may not materialize before the end of the year.According to the commission this is because some managers of public institutions are refusing to submit data on the basic salary levels and benefits of their workers.Chief Executive of the FWSC, Mr George Smith Graham said the Commission needed to have all the information pertaining to workers’ basic salaries and allowances to be able to do a thorough job.“We are in a situation where we need to be transparent with each other, to know all the allowances the institutions are enjoying and then we formalise all of them,” he said.Mr. George Smith Graham was speaking to Joy Business at a meeting with public sector workers on a consultant report on how to standardize and harmonize allowances of workers. He said, “once institutions refuse to add their allowances, then what it means is that they will not be able to submit the data because the data involves the basic salary as well as the allowances.”Source: Joy Business/Ghana
