Minister of Information, John Tia Akologu has expressed concern about what he termed attempts to misinterpret the 2011 Budget statement presented by Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, to Parliament.
He cited as example, attempts to create the impression that the government wanted to levy churches, even though the budget statement did not say so.
The Minister was speaking at a workshop for staff of the Information Services Department and some journalists on the budget statement. The Information staff will begin a nationwide public education on the budget and the Minister told them they hold the key to its successful implementation.
He also cautioned them against politicising the budget statement saying they should present the facts to the public.
