Residents of Tumu, the Sissala East district capital in the Upper West region have warned they will be compelled to face-off with police if they don’t stop what they claim to be wanton harassment and assault.They accuse the police of lawless acts in recent security checks resulting in arrests and impounding of motorbikes.Regional Correspondent Rafik Salam reported that the residents have accused the police for abandoning their duty to protect lives and property and were instead subjecting the people to brutalities.The Sissala East District Police Commander, Mawunyo Nanagbe said the police are operating within the confines of the law.He said the police cannot be highhanded with residents if they obey traffic rules and regulations.Source: Joy News/Ghana
