Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Deputy Minister for Energy, on Monday said the Ministry's investigation into the theft of materials by the contractor executing on electrical installation for fifteen communities in the Awutu Senya constituency is complete.
He said the delay in the execution of the work was due to the investigation adding that the Ministry was in the process of replacing the contractor to complete outstanding works.
Mr Buah said this when he appeared before the house to answer questions.
He said the Ministry was currently working in 23 communities in the Awutu Senya constituency under the SHEP-4 and there were two packages of the contract works involved.
The first package comprised 17 communities, whilst the second package has six communities, he noted.
Mr Buah said in package one, two communities namely Ahuntem and Oshimpo have not provided the low voltage poles expected to be procured by the communities under the SHEP, and therefore installation works are yet to commence in the communities.
He said it was expected that installation works under the first package would be completed by the end of March 2011.
Mr Buah explained that under package two, high voltage works have been completed at Osafo, Fianko, Otobiase and Ofadaa, Low Voltage works have also been completed at Okwabima and HV works are on-going at Dankwa and Okwabima.
At Ofaso, Fianko, Otopiase, Dankwa and Ofadaa, LV works are also on going and the project in these communities has been scheduled for completion by March 2011.
