A 26-year-old Nigerian commercial sex worker, Ignetious Peace, has been jailed for five years for human trafficking, by a Kumasi Circuit Court for human trafficking.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Doris Amewu told the court presided over by Mr Justice Rockson Amedior that both the convict and victim, Gloria Michael, are Nigerians. Peace lives in Kumasi and operated as a commercial sex worker at the Tasco Guest House.
In August, this year, she travelled to Nigeria to attend the burial ceremony of her father, where she convinced the victim that she could help find her a more rewarding job in Ghana.
Peace, subsequently, brought Gloria to Kumasi and bought her some dresses and took her straight to the Plaza Hotel, where she booked a room for her to begin the commercial sex business.
The prosecution said Peace always would go to collect the daily returns and after sometime Gloria felt she had had enough of her cheating and made a formal report to the Police's Human trafficking Unit.
Peace was, accordingly, arrested and prosecuted.
