Mr. Franklin Cudjoe, the Executive Director of the policy think-tank IMANI Ghana, has criticized the Mills-led administration for what he says is an unplanned developmental agenda being pursued. Mr. Cudjoe who was speaking on Joy FM’s News Night Thursday said it is very typical of most governments and political parties to design manifestoes without creating a business plan which will form the blue print on which developmental agenda are set. His view comes in the wake of President Mill’s comments on how he intends to make 2011 a year of ‘action’ towards achieving his promises when he addressed a delegation from China led by Mr. Fan Bing, Managing Director of the world's biggest bank, Standard Bank. Mr. Cudjoe stated it appears the administration was waiting for such foreign donor support before setting its business targets as there is no concrete business plan that will guide the government’s developmental agenda. He added that, “he [President Mills] was actually waiting for that to happen before he can prosecute his agenda,” explaining the president's posture and tone showed that he was expectant of such support. Mr. Cudjoe however advised government not be tempted to do what the past administration did that led to huge deficits which the state is grappling with today. The director of communication at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, on his part explained that the government had achieved a lot of its agenda without necessary trumpeting them adding that the president's comments were to assure Ghanaians that the stage is set for growth and development. Reiterating the promises of the NDC government, Mr. Anyidoho said "it is the year that the Volta Region must see the university start,;it is the year that the Brong Ahafo must see its university start; it is the year that the Kotokoraba market must see a face lift; it is the year that cape coast stadium must come alive; it is the year that the eastern corridor road in the volta region must see the light of day…” Story by Derick Romeo Adogla/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
