Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, on Sunday, appealed to drivers to be patient when driving and to observe road signs to avoid accidents.
She said road safety was the responsibility of all stakeholders, adding that, the country needs its human resources to enable it to grow and development.
Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe was speaking at the Silver Jubilee anniversary of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Morkporkpor congregation, Kasoa, and the unveiling and dedication of a children's ministry block at Kasoa, in the Central Region.
It had the theme: "The Promise of God, Our hope (Jeremiah 29:11)."
She said the theme for the anniversary was appropriate because individually and collectively "we need hope to motivate us to act to achieve our objectives".
She noted that churches, especially the orthodox ones have been very important developmental partners with government over the years, and have established schools, hospitals and income generating ventures for the development of society.
The Minister lamented that, despite the proliferation of churches and religious bodies in the country, the moral values were fast declining.
"The situation has so worsened that no less a person than the president had to meet with religious leaders and other opinion leaders on the issues recently," she added.
Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe urged Christians to strengthen their evangelism, fasting and pray fervently for good things in the country.
She called on parents to assume full responsibility of their children and inculcate good morals in them, to enable them to become responsible citizens.
She urged the management of the church to use the occasion to take stock of their work, to identify and avoid the pitfalls of the past and also strategize to perform better for the growth of the Church and Country.
Mrs. Benyiwa-Doe donated GHC 1,000, on behalf of the Central Regional coordinating Council, in aid of the construction of a mission house.
Reverend Joyce Kofi Kodade, Moderator of the West Volta Presbytery, in a sermon on the theme, "Rejoice in the Lord", said hope was the key element that drives an individual to attain progress in life, and could have an influence on society.
He urged Christians to show their values in their communities, to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the country.
Rev. Kodade condemned the culture of verbal abuse, which has pervaded public discourse in the country.
He said abusive exchanges among the dignified office bearers, constitutes an embarrassment to the country's democracy, and should not be encouraged.
He noted that "the ultimate goal of Christians is to inherit the kingdom and Joy of heaven".
He urged Christians to seek God, their creator, in truth and humility for all their needs on earth and avoid false prophets, who were ungodly.
Mr Joseph Amenowede, Volta Regional Minster, who was the chairman for the occasion, said plans were far advanced for the commencement of the Volta University, proposed by government, for the people of that region, adding that, management has made available, the needed infrastructure for the 2010/2011 academic year.
