Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey has vehemently denied talks that Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, George Afriyie, is his ally.
Recent media reports suggest that GFA president Kwasi Nyantakyi had fallen out with George Afriyie.
These reports continue to state that Nyantakyi had been told George Afriyie was the one leaking information about the FA to Nii Lantey, hence their frosty relationship.
But Nii Lantey in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports revealed that although George Afriyie is his cousin, he has never asked or received any information about dealings of the GFA.
“George Afriyie has never come to me to discuss anything which is not official and all the times he has come to me he came with other people from the GFA,” he told Joy Sports.
“He has come to me with the President before and he has never given me any information.
“I am a Christian and I don’t swear but George Afriyie has never come to me, he now has a problem and I pity him because he is being demonised because of his family relationship with me," he said
“People are seeing him as a traitor and I feel pity for him and in that situation, if there is anything like a frosty relationship then he is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea,” he added.
