The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) says it has started collecting data as part of the job re-evaluation exercise it started last year for the Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG).
A statement issued by Fair Wages and Salaries Commission said its personnel, the Management Services Department and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, who were trained last year by the Commission, were collecting the data.
It quoted the Director of Salary Grading, Re-Grading and Job Evaluation, Mrs Eva Addo, who explained that although the Greater Accra Region could have provided them with all the number of job holders to be re-evaluated, the Commission needed to have a fair representation, hence the decision to add two more regions.
"The exercise has become necessary, following concerns raised by CLOGSAG over their placement on the Single Spine Grading Structure," the statement said.
It added that the Data Collection and Analysis was expected to be completed by the first week of February, 2011.
This will be followed by the preparation of Job Descriptions and Job Specifications for all jobs covered - an exercise that will be carried out within 15 working days.
A Job Review Committee will then review the work that has been done.
"The Commission expects the job review to be completed within 10 working days. Currently, data for individual job holders within the Greater Accra Region are being collected after which the team will move to the Central and Ashanti Regions in the last week of January, 2011. The exercise in the two regions will be done simultaneously."
Mrs Addo said: "It is my hope that this exercise that we have started will go a long way in helping to resolve the concerns of CLOGSAG, to ensure the smooth placement, mapping and migration of their members onto the new pay structure."Source: GNA
