A German-born Ghanaian youngster Phil Ofosu-Aryeh has declared his intention to play for Ghana despite reports of pressure on him by German football officials to play for the European nation. Ofosu-Aryeh, 19, known in Germany as Phil Schluter who plays for Regionaliga side SV Wilhelmshaven has been in an impressive form for his side hence attracting the attention of Germany to play for their youth side. The 1.83m tall attacking midfielder is on record to have attracted the interests of the Germans as early as age four, following his display of amazing skills during community games, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports. Ofosu-Aryeh told the GNA Sports "I want to play for my father's country and that is Ghana and nothing else. "I have watched Ghana several times and that is where my heart belongs. I know I have what it takes to fit into the team when I'm given the opportunity." He stated. He continued, "I have the ability to adapt to any role in midfield, so I can contribute to the development of football in Ghana". "I have resisted pressure from Germany to play for their Under-20 side, but Ghana remains my number one choice". Ofosu-Aryeh noted. Ofosu-Aryeh, who is on the target of Shalke 04, was born to a Ghanaian father, Nana Kojo Ofosu-Aryeh and a German mother Manuela Schlutter.Source: GNA
