An eight-month old baby girl has survived three major surgeries at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to have her intestines and bladder closed. Baby, Favour Ibekwe, is billed for four more operations to complete her vagina passage, check the capacity of her bladder and also correct her stool outlet. The three surgeries were funded by the hospital's medical team for which the hospital authorities have provided but an additional GH$5,OOO would be needed for the rest of the surgeries appealed for public help. A source at the hospital said Favour was born in Liberia in June last year and was brought down to Ghana with her abdominal wall completely opened, exposing her intestines. In addition, she has an incomplete urinal passage (vagina) and no anus. She was referred from the John F. Kennedy Medical Centre in Liberia on July 12,2010 and was admitted at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on September 11. Source: Ghanaian Times
