A fertilizer plant to be built at Shama in the Western region will make use of gas from the Jubilee field.
The factory which will produce 1.1 million tonnes of fertilizer a year is a government of Ghana and India joint venture.
A delegation led by Indian Secretary of Department of Fertilizers of the Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers Monday met Vice President John Mahama on the project.
Dr. Sutanu Behuria said one of the key issues that need to be agreed is the guarantee of a constant and reliable supply of gas and a shareholding structure.
He said sustainable supply of gas at competitive prices was critical in attaining the objective of the project.
Vice President John Mahama said the project is part of the Government of Ghana’s efforts to ensure farmers have access to quality but low-priced fertilizer.
