The host of the Super Morning Show on Joy 99.7 FM, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah has said the media, be it radio, TV or news paper can be used as a tool in nation building and not only for entertainment.
He said this on Asempa FM’s mid morning programme ‘Abrabo’ on Wednesday. He said the CEO of Multimedia Group, Mr. Kwesi Twum, spotted him during a presentation five years ago after graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Communication from the University of Cape Coast.
He added impressed with his performance, Mr. Twum brought him to Joy FM to be trained as the replacement of the departing Komla Dumor. Kojo says he first joined the Joy FM family as an intern and rose through the ranks until becoming the SMS host.
Beyond broadcasting, Kojo says, he provides marketing service advice to corporate bodies and individuals who need his services.
Born on April 5, 1982 to Mr. Kwame Oppong Nkrumah, the Head of Treasury of the National Investment Bank, and Mrs. Felicia Oppong Nkrumah, a retired teacher, Kojo an avid reader, comes from Abora Aboase, near Saltpond in the Central Region, and is the first of three children to his parents.
He started his education at the Pentecost Preparatory School in Koforidua in the Eastern Region and later moved to continue his basic education at the St Benedict school at Dansoman when his father was transferred to Accra. After sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), he gained admission to Pope John Secondary in Koforidua and ended at the University of Cape Coast for his first degree.
