The National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, says it is ready to carry out rescue operations and assist persons who might fall victim to flooding as a result of heavy rains.
Officials say they are collaborating with local authorities to distil gutters to reduce flooding when the rains start.
On Thursday, officials responded swiftly to flood situations in Accra after a heavy downpour.
Regional NADMO Coordinator Winfred Tesia told Joy News though no casualties were recorded, a number of towns were flooded.
According to Mr. Tesia, communities such as Madina, Dome and the Trade Fair on the Spintex Road were hit by the floods.
But Mr. Tesia believes his outfit is ready to avert any disaster.
“We are prepared [for any eventualities] in the sense that we did not anticipate today’s rain, but we are planning towards the rain, so together with the District Assemblies we are trying to distil some of these choked gutters,” he assured.
