A Tarkwa Circuit court has sentenced an ex-convict Addo Dankwa, 37, to 12 months imprisonment for escaping from the Railways Police cells at Tarkwa.
He pleaded guilty.
Police Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr, Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on January 6, the accused was arrested by the Tarkwa railway police and detained for stealing but escaped from Tarkwa custody.
He said Dankwa and another prisoner, Ato Baah, who was in custody for attempted murder, broke the cell door and escaped to Apewosika near Cape Coast.
Inspector Paddy said Dankwa was arrested on Feb. 9 when an informant alerted the Police that he was hiding in Cape Coast.
Danquah had in December last year completed serving a three- month sentence for stealing.
