A 20-year old unemployed man has been sentenced to 35 years imprisonment for armed robbery. He pleaded guilty. Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court, presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that on January 31st this year, at about 06:00 hours, the accused Kwaku Mensah Foli, alias Kwame Alhassan Body, and others now at large, armed with two knifes, went to the offices of Ganesh Kachi and Jagdep Siggh, both Indian Nationals and Gold buyers resident in Tarkwa. The prosecutor said Foli and his gang entered the offices of the two Indians with the intention of selling gold to them but attacked Ganesh and inflicted wounds on his hands. Inspector Amponsah said as the struggle continued, Jagdep, who was then sleeping in an adjoining room, heard some noises and when he saw his brother being attacked, he raised an alarm and the suspects fled from the scene. They however spotted Foli a few days later and alerted the police who arrested him. Source: GNA
