The EDUFAIR Ghana Foundation is set to hold the maiden edition of Model Democracy on November 2, 2016 at the British Council at 9 AM.
The debate tournament will take place among students from the universities of Ghana, Ashesi, Lancaster, the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Zenith University College and the University of Professional Studies.
The tournament is expected to be held annually and is focused on educating and informing students on the need to develop the ability to think critically and provide well researched solutions to issues that bother on National Development in Ghana.
This academic exercise also seeks to unleash and tap into the sharp minds of young intellectuals with leadership potential by providing a platform that will build their confidence and capacity to contribute to the development of the nation.
According to the Founder and Executive Director of EDUFAIR Ghana, Ewura-Esi Enyimayew, the current political season presents a perfect opportunity to tap into the minds of the youth.
"Model Democracy is for Ghana’s future leaders to share perspectives on policy direction per existing and potential policies that will support the growth and development agenda of Ghana."
She added that future encounters will involve all tertiary institutions in Ghana to compete for limited slots for each year’s final showdown.
