Former Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Power Authority [BPA] and First Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Mr. Fred Oware has called the bluff of the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress and board member of the BPA who says he has sued Oware for defamation. Mr. Asiedu Nketia had Thursday afternoon threatened to drag Mr. Oware to court during a press conference in Accra and by evening he confirmed he has already started the process and expect Oware to be served on Friday. According to him, Due to the absence of minutes covering Board decisions which should form the basis of decisions of BUI Power Authority and the justification for same, the current board is saddled with issues which require the invitation of at least Fred Oware and former President John Agyekum Kufuor who was the BPA board chairman for clarification. Mr. Asiedu Nketia says the NPP administration created the impression that the project had three components; the Bui Hydroelectric Project, The Bui Irrigation Project and the Bui City Project. He said however that upon assumption of office the new board realized the third component had no planning and funding arrangements, no feasibility studies and no architectural designs. He added that, Mr. Fred Oware made the biggest fool of himself before the Ghanaian media when he tendered in minutes of meeting held by the current administration when asked to produce minutes under his stewardship. But the NPP Vice Chairman who spoke on Asempa Today said it is laughable that Mr. Asiedu Nketia who claims to be a board member does not have a faint idea of boardroom matters especially on minutes writing. According to Oware he is prepared to meet general mosquito in any court if he has the guts to do so. He said recent media expose of the NDC scribe for his involvement in supplying blocks for the Bui Dam Project has necessitated the cover-up action.
