Two men, Mohammed Alhassan and Wahab are alleged to have defiled a 15-year old girl after helping her pay off her church debt.
The young girl is said to have attended a church close to Kaneshie in Accra for prayers but had no money to pay the pastor who demanded 50 Ghana cedis after praying for her.
Joy News’ Anna Agyepong reports that the pastor detailed elders of the church to follow the girl to her house to collect the money.
On their way, an argument ensued, drawing the attention of Alhassan and Wahab who intervened and paid off the elders.
They promised to take the young girl home, but had other plans.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Chief Inspector Irene Oppong, the men took turns in defiling the 15-year old in a car.
The victim felt drowsy after taking food and water provided by the suspects. The DOVVSU PRO suspects she was drugged.
According to her the suspects decided to drop her at her house around 2am but were accosted by the police.
Wahab managed to escape but his accomplice is in police custody pending further investigation and prosecution while the victim is receiving counseling at DOVVSU.
