A 25-year-old auto mechanic has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Court for inflicting a deep cutlass wound on the head of his junior brother.
Isaac Baah pleaded guilty to the charge and he was convicted on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah Appenteng told the Court presided over by Mr Justice William Boampong that the complainant, Akwasi Arhin, is a student of the Kumasi Polytechnic and resides in the same house with Baah at Old Amakom in Kumasi.
He explained that the relationship between the two siblings had been sour.
On March 6, Baah returned home late and met Arhin playing music in his room. He found the music was too loud and asked his brother to bring the volume down.
Arhin obliged but Baah in spite of that became furious, attacked the complainant with a double-edged cutlass and slashed him on his forehead.
The screams of the complainant attracted sympathizers, who managed to overpower Baah, and took the cutlass from him.
Arhin was rushed to the hospital and was issued with a medical form to make a police report. This led to the arrest of the complainant and after investigation, he was arraigned.
