The Deputy Minister of Education Mahama Ayariga has successfully undergone surgery at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after an accident on the Tamale-Bolga road Sunday morning. Citifmonline reports hospital sources as saying the Deputy Minister suffered “serious internal bleeding” and “doctors had to perform the emergency surgery to avoid possible fatal complications.” The minister, who was part of the president's team currently in the Upper West Region, was heading to Tamale to catch a flight to Accra when his car ran into another vehicle said to have been sitting in the middle of the road at Walewale. His driver, Simon Amoah told Joy News he and another passenger have been treated for minor injuries but the minster was rushed to the theatre. Saturday the Majority leader in parliament, Cletus Avoka, also survived a near death car accident on the Navrongo-Zabila road. Speaking to Joy News from the Bolgatanga central hospital, Mr Avoka said he sustained a cut and some lacerations. The accident occured between Bolga and Mr Avoka's constituency, Zebilla. Explaining the cause of the accident, Mr Avoka said one of the tyres of the vehicle got burst and the car somersaulted.
