President John Evans Atta Mills has reaffirmed his pledge to transform the education sector of the country.
He says he will make sure every school in the country benefit from various developmental projects his government has embarked on to transform the education sector.
President Mills made this promise when he commissioned a dining hall complex at the Zebilla Senior High Technical School.
Presidential correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng reports chiefs, parents, teachers, students and people from all walks of life converged on the school premises for the ceremony.
Since the school has not auditorium, the event was held under a three, Seth says.
There was drumming and dancing with the event ground virtually turned into a mini rally.
Seth Kwame Boateng says many were those who climbed trees to catch a glimpse of the president.
The government is spending GH¢6.8 million to give the Zebilla Senior High/Technical School, which is one of the model schools in the Upper East region, a facelift.
The previous government under former president Kufuor introduced a policy to upgrade at least one Senior High School in every district to match the best in the nation’s capital, Accra. A number of SHSs were therefore selected and the Zebilla SHTS was one of them.
The school has already benefited from nine-unit classroom block and a girls dormitory.
Addressing the people, president Mills said the education sector would receive massive transformation under his administration.
“We want to make sure that all Ghanaians – no matter where you come from – will have solid education because it is only through solid education that we can build a better Ghana.
Some students who spoke to Joy News expressed their profound gratitude to the president for the projects.
