The Ghana Police Service has hinted it would invite ex-president Jerry John Rawllings to assist in fresh investigations into the Ya Na murder if the administration views the move as necessary.
Mr Rawlings has claimed to have video evidence that would nail the murderers of Ya Na Yakubu Andani II, overlord of Dagbon.
Decendants of the late overlord went wild when an Accra Fast Track High Court acquited 15 persons charged by the state to have been involved in the murder of the Ya Na.
The Police administration indicated it was going to begin fresh investigations into the issue upon instructions from the government. Since then, some media analysts as well as government officials have suggested the ex-president be invited to produce his evidence.
DSP Cephas Arthur, acting Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, told Peace FM on Friday that the Police would invite anybody whom they thought could help in the investigations and not neccesarily the former president only.
He discounted claims that the Police failed in conducting a thorough investigation to effectively aid in the prosecution process. All over the world investigations into some cases have been diffucult and dragged for years, the DSP emphasised.
He said therefore there was nothing wrong with conducting fresh investigations if the initial one was not compelling enough to nail the suspects.
