The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service says it has increased its patrol teams on the various highways in the country to reduce accidents before and during the Easter festivities.The Eastern Regional MTTU Commander, Superintendent James Sarfo Peprah told Asempa News that, the Unit has set up five teams at vantage points in the region, to check speeding and other violations of road traffic regulations on the various highways leading to the Kwahu Mountains.Hundreds of thousands of local and foreign tourists are expected to converge at the Mountains for this year’s annual Easter and Paragliding festivities, which is being sponsored by Adom FM in collaboration with Vodafone.According to Superintendent Sarfo Peprah, the MTTU will not allow any unregistered vehicles and motor bikes to ply the roads to the Kwahu Mountains during this year’s festivities.The reason for the decision is to avoid the use of such vehicles and bikes to commit crimes during the festivities.Story by Afia Amankwaah-Tamakloe/Asempa News
