The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Patrick Timbillah, has assured the public of adequate security during the Easter celebrations.
He said the police had put in place the necessary measures to ensure that the festivities were incident free.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, Mr Timbillah said the police were ready to deal with criminals who might want to take advantage of the religious celebration to cause trouble.
They would be out on foot and mobile patrols to check robbery attacks, pick-pocketing and cellular phone snatching, among other crimes.
The Regional Police Commander said personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), would also be on hand to direct traffic and make sure there was free flow of traffic.
He used the occasion to caution financial institutions to desist from the practice where their bullion vans drive through traffic blowing their horns.
This, he said, was unlawful, stating that, apart from special security vans, ambulances and in some cases, vehicles that carry pregnant women or patients, no other vehicle was permitted to do that.
Mr Timbillah warned that the police would soon mount a special operation to arrest offenders and bring them to justice and urged members of the public to be more security conscious and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
