Christians in leadership positions in the country were on Good Friday called upon to sacrifice for the Nation just as Jesus Christ did for mankind.
Pastor Eugene Laryea, Resident Pastor of the Tema branch of the Harvest Chapel International, who made the call in a sermon, said it was about time such leaders desisted from pursuing their selfish ambitions.
He preached on the theme; “Our response to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.”
Pastor Laryea regretted that even though most people in leadership positions, in various institutions in the country, were Christians, they thought too much about themselves, instead of their subordinates, and the Nation as a whole.
He added that Christians must not only sacrifice in the church auditorium, but must also lead exemplary lives at their workplaces, and in their communities.
He said, just as Jesus Christ suffered and endured shame and ridicule to save humanity, so must Christians in leadership positions sacrifice for the Nation by enduring negative comments and criticisms.
Pastor Laryea also called on the public to keep their bodies holy for Christ during the Easter Festivities, noting that, the Bible, in Romans 12:1, implored everybody to offer their bodies as reasonable sacrifices to God.
He bemoaned the turning of the Passion of Christ into merry-making, and therefore urged Christians to move out of their comfort zones to reach out to the people.
The worshippers offered prayers for the Nation, neighbouring countries and the Church, as they praised and worshiped God with hymns for His guidance up to this time of the year.
