The Chiefs and elders of Kitase, a town near Aburi in the Eastern region have been explaining circumstances that led to the cancellation of the outdooring of a sub chief there today.
Earlier reports suggested tension was mounting in the town as a result of the planned event.
But the Kitase Chief, Nana Kwesi Ankrah III, has told Joy News some unidentified persons are behind the rumours about tension building up in the town.
He suspects someone with malicious intent called the police high command and made a false report of tension mounting in the area in the lead up to the outdooring of the sub-chief.
Following this report, the police determined to avert any unforeseen security mishap, appealed to the chiefs to postpone the ceremony.
Nana Kwesi Ankrah has urged the police to investigate the false alarm insisting the area is peace.
Independent checks by Joy News have confirmed that there is no tension in the town.
Correspondent Frank Heyman has also confirmed Kitase is peaceful and residents are going about their business without any signs of insecurity or tension.
