The Lay Chairman of the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Esther Lily Nkansah, has called on Christian leaders to relinquish power to the younger generation to ensure continuous flow of the knowledge of Christ and the survival of the church.
She noted that this would ensure there was no break in the strength and tempo of the human resource base of the church.
Mrs Nkansah said this when she presented a paper on the “State of God’s Work” in the Sekondi Diocese at their 50th synod of Bethel Methodist Society in Takoradi.
She appealed to the Church to encourage people who would want to be trained to take up positions in the future rather than criticizing them because this would bring divisions in the Church.
“The Church belongs to all of us and everything that has to do with the welfare of the church should concern us as team players. There are ‘Apollos’ or ‘Timothys’ or ‘Pauls’ in the Church.
“There are no privileges committees where if one belongs to them you are deemed to do no wrong. We meet as one in Christ where there are no sects and parties, no ethnicity, therefore people who are more
knowledgeable should use them for the good of the other members in the church,” Mrs Nkansah said.
She appealed to the Church authorities in the diocese to encourage and resource the youth to also use their knowledge and skills to benefit the church and the nation.
Mr and Mrs I. C. Bosomtwe donated a Peugeot salon car to the Esiama Circuit of the Sekondi Diocese Methodist Church.
